Craiova is taking a major step toward a more efficient and reliable heat supply. As part of a comprehensive modernisation programme, key sections of the city’s district heating network are being upgraded, including 13 thermal stations and 88 kilometres of new pre-insulated pipe systems.
Modernising Craiova’s District Heating Infrastructure
The project in Craiova comprises the modernisation of the city’s thermal energy distribution networks serving end consumers. With a population of approximately 270,000 inhabitants, Craiova is upgrading key parts of its district heating infrastructure to improve efficiency, reliability and supply quality. The scope includes the refurbishment of 13 thermal stations and the installation of new pre-insulated pipe systems for both heating and domestic hot water distribution.
In total, around 574 new connections are being implemented, supplying approximately 140 residential buildings and around 21,000 inhabitants. The upgraded system will provide improved temperature stability, higher flow rates and reduced distribution losses. ISOPLUS is supplying the complete pipe systems for the project, with nearly half of the total volume already delivered in 2025. The project represents a significant step toward modern, efficient and resilient district heating infrastructure in Romania.
