Challenges
To reduce the amount of harmful CO2 that gets into the atmosphere, the greenhouse gas is captured directly at its source – for example, in power stations or industrial plants – using chemical or physical processes. It is then compressed and transported to a storage site for permanent storage. If it is transported over land, then the most environmentally friendly way is via pipe systems, which are equipped to deal with all eventualities.
