Product information
Pre-insulated isocu is a flexible and corrosion-free pipe. It consists of a copper service pipe and an LLDPE outer casing, which are bonded together by flexible polyurethane insulation to form a firm unit. The service pipe is protected against oxygen and vapour diffusion. isocu is a cold-drawn, seamlessly annealed copper pipe in accordance with DIN EN 1057.
The flexible insulation and the LLDPE outer casing offer maximum flexibility, while the multilayer pipe remains dimensionally stable during laying. If branch pipes are laid, isocu can be easily adapted and enables fast and efficient installation.
The integrated aluminium diffusion barrier between the outer casing and the polyurethane foam ensure optimum insulation and low heat losses during the entire life of the system with lambda values of 0.021 W/m°C.
Key-features
- short delivery times
- Delivery in coiled bundles up to 360 m single length
- Fixed point constructions not necessary for wall penetrations
- Low pipe crown depth of cover and shallow laying enable a narrow pipe trench
- Minimum bending radii from 700 mm, therefore the most direct route can be taken to the building’s utility room
- No pipe structural design required (self-compensating)
- Highly reduced use of joint casings, practically no joint installation, immediate re-filling
- Easier routing in built-up areas, faster total construction time, shorter traffic disruption

The isocu pipe consists of a bright drawn, soft seamless copper pipe to DIN EN 1057. Dimensions, weights, structural values and tolerances to DIN EN 12449, material Cu-DHP/R 220, (material no. CW024A), with standard wall thickness, technical specifications to DIN 12735-2.
We insulate our isocu pipes with rigid polyurethane foam (PUR) with a specially developed recipe. In the continuous production line, foaming takes place around the carrier pipe and an exothermic chemical reaction produces a high-quality insulating material with excellent thermal conductivity, λ50 = 0.021 W/(m-K) and low density. ISOPLUS uses PUR foam that is 100 percent free from fluorochlorinated hydrocarbons (CFC). We only use a propellant gas from the pentane group as the propellant. This means enormous thermal insulation properties while at the same time achieving the lowest possible ODP and GWP values, ODP (ozone depletion potential) = 0, GWP (global warming potential) = < 0.001.
Tried and tested Polyethylene Linear Low Density (PE-LLD) with a smooth surface is used for the isocu outer casing. PE-LLD is a seamless, toughened, thermoplastic material. Thermal conductivity λPE = 0.33 W/(m•K). PE-LLD is highly resistant to weather effects and UV rays and practically all chemical compounds that occur in the ground. PE is therefore the only suitable material listed for direct underground laying in all national and international standards and guidelines. A aluminium film is integrated between the insulation and outer casing of the isocu pipe. This film serves as a barrier against exchange of the PUR cell gas. This means that heat loss during the design life stays at a constantly low level. In general, we produce and deliver isocu pipes without leak detection.
The copper pipe is joined with capillary-soldering-fittings to DIN EN 1254 or with specially suitable press fittings, whereby the wall thickness matches the pipes. It is not allowed to enlarge the copper pipes. The guidelines and/or provisions of the fitting producers for the soldering process and type of solder must be complied with.
- Delivered lengths:
