Flexible pipe system
isopex heating – Single and twin pipe 6 & 10 bar
Thanks to their extraordinary flexibility, ISOPLUS pre-insulated isopex heating pipes are ideally suitable for house connections, subsequent network expansion and for bypassing obstacles such as structures, trees or third party pipes and cables. Depending on the pressure requirements, isopex heating pipes can withstand 6 bar and 10 bar.

Product information
The continuous production of our flexible isopex pipes produces a longitudinally watertight bonded pipe system – the three basic materials (carrier pipe + insulation + outer casing) are firmly bonded together.
The carrier pipe’s modulus of elasticity reduces with increasing temperature, thereby causing very low stresses. These stresses are reduced still further by the embedment in the ground. Axial thermal expansion is almost completely suppressed in the isopex heating 6 or 10 bar compound system.
This means: isopex pipes can be planned without expansion compensation and, due to their composite structure, can be directly introduced into buildings or building entries.
Key-features
- Low installation costs
- Delivery in coiled bundles up to 360 m single length, depending on the pipe dimensions
- If necessary, can also be delivered as 6 m long pipes
- Low heat losses
- No need for fixed point constructions for wall penetrations
- Low pipe crown depth to cover and shallow laying possible, narrow pipe trench
- Minimum bending radii from 700 mm, therefore the most direct route can be taken to the building’s utility room
- No pipe structural design required (self-compensating)
- Highly reduced use of joint casings, practically no joint installation, immediate re-filling
- Easier routing in built-up areas, faster total construction time, shorter traffic disruption
- short delivery times

The isopex heating pipe consists of an interlinked (X) PE-Xa. The basic material is PE, to which peroxide (a) is added during extrusion. General quality requirements to DIN EN ISO 15875-1, pipe series and dimensions to DIN EN ISO 15875-2, resistant to aggressive water and different chemicals, please contact ISOPLUS for more information.
isopex pipes are insulated with rigid polyurethane foam (PUR) with a specially developed recipe. In the continuous production line, foaming takes place around the carrier pipe and an exothermic chemical reaction produces a high-quality insulating material with excellent thermal conductivity, λ50 = 0.021 W/(m-K) and low density.
ISOPLUS uses PUR foam that is 100 % free from fluorochlorinated hydrocarbons (CFC). We therefore only use the pentane group as a propellant. This means enormous thermal insulation properties while at the same time achieving the lowest possible ODP and GWP values, ODP (ozone depletion potential) = 0, GWP (global warming potential) = < 0.001.
Both types of pipe are also available with strengthened insulation quality.
Tried and tested Polyethylene Linear Low Density (PE-LLD) with a smooth and corrugated surface is used for the outer casing of the isopex heating pipes. PE-LLD is a seamless, toughened, thermoplastic material with thermal conductivity λPE = 0.33 W/(m•K). It is highly resistant to weather effects and UV rays and practically all chemical compounds that occur in the ground. PE is therefore the only suitable material listed for direct underground laying in all national and international standards and guidelines. A PE film is integrated as a carrier film between the insulation and outer casing of the isopex pipe. This film serves as a barrier against exchange of the PUR cell gas. This means that heat loss stays at a constantly low level during the design life. In general, we produce and deliver isopex pipes without leak detection.
We recommend preferable use of compressible joints and connections for PE-Xa pipes in the ground. Clamped joints can be used in visible and accessible areas within buildings.
