  • ~34.7 km with DN1000/1200 pre-insulated steel pipes in 16m length.
  • 190pcs banded pipes 16m long
  • Additional smaller dimensions for the rest of the project

This project entails the construction of a 25 km main pipeline aimed at replacing gas heating systems in Belgrade. The initiative focuses on expanding the heating points throughout the city, ensuring broader access to efficient heating solutions.

Crossing Challenges

Originally proposed over 30 years ago, the project faced multiple interruptions due to shifting priorities and funding issues. In the late 1990s, some infrastructure was already laid, but progress stalled due to various bureaucratic hurdles and a lack of cohesive governmental support.

The Obrenovac district heating project, spearheaded by Powerchina, aims to enhance the heating infrastructure in Belgrade through the construction of a 60 km pipeline connecting the Nikola Tesla A Thermal Power Plant with various heating points in the northern part of the city. This initiative is designed to utilize the surplus hot water produced at the power plant for district heating, which is currently released into the Sava River.

The project not only targets improved heating services but also seeks to transition away from reliance on gas and oil heating systems. The project faces the significant challenge of laying underground pipes to cross the Sava River while also navigating the complexities of bypassing nearby railways and highways near Ostružnica. This aspect of the project requires careful planning and execution to ensure minimal disruption to existing infrastructure and environmental safety. As the project progresses, our contribution will be vital in supporting Belgrade's transition to a more sustainable energy model, making this a collaborative effort towards a greener future.
