Topic: Rigid pipe systems

The quantity of expansion pads depends on various conditions from the outside diameter of the pipe, the type of fittings and the operating parameters. Expansion pad plans are produced according to the pipe structural calculations. Contact our engineering departments or the project designer for assistance. Without a structural check, our pipe system loses its warranty.

Laying and welding the pipes on site is generally carried out by certified pipe laying contractors with the appropriate technical qualifications.

The trench width and depth must always be matched to the respective pipe dimensions. The trench bedding should be flat and stone-free, have sidefill protection and provide water and silt-free laying zones for the whole construction period. More detailed explanations can be found in our catalogue or from your contract manager on site.

The pre-insulated pipe should be embedded in at least 10 cm of sand all round - important: the sand must be stone-free! Any pipe supports such as squared timbers must be removed before backfilling, pipe chocks can remain in the trench. Note the grading curve of the sand grading range 0 - 4 mm (class NS 0/2) to be used. Information on the backfilling requirements can be found in our catalogue.

Use stone-free, noncohesive, compactable material that you place in layers. Note the grading curve of the sand grading range 0 - 4 mm (class NS 0/2) to be used. Information on the backfilling requirements can be found in our catalogue.

Our standard lengths for pre-insulated pipes are 6, 12 and 16 metres. Within the range from DN25 to DN80, production is only possible in 6 and 12 m lengths.

Topic: Flexible pipe systems

When laying flexible pipes at temperatures around or below + 5°C, we recommend storing the pipe in a heated room and/or heating the pipe with hot air or the low flame of a gas burner to make straightening it easier. Avoid bending the flexible pipe against the direction in which it is wound on.

Thanks to the modular structure, the pipes can be laid without significant prior knowledge of pipe layers or infrastructure construction workers. Decoilers and tools for installing press couplings can be provided by ISOPLUS for a small rental charge. Please contact the customer service in your country for further information.

Yes, it is possible. Technical clarification is absolutely necessary for choosing the right connection technology and for compatibility. Please contact the customer service in your country for specific information.

In practice, a heating network is operated in a so-called load collective with changing flow and return temperatures T1 to Tn. The resulting service life of the PE-Xa carrier pipe can then be determined using the "Miner's rule" in ISO 13760. Further information can be found in our product catalogue.

Continuous operating temperature 80 °C in accordance with EN 15632-2, short-term peak temperature 95 °C according to EN 15632-2, maximum allowable operating pressure pB: 6/10 bar.

See table. The minimum requirements to DIN 16892/93 (dated 2019) and the more stringent requirements to EN 15632 (dated 2015) are therefore fully met. The allowable operating pressure is based on a safety factor. Appropriate reference measurements are taken regularly by external test institutes and the creep rupture strength is confirmed.

Topic: Joint systems

ISOPLUS offers all kinds of different joint systems for various applications. These are determined, for example, by geological circumstances (e.g. ground water) and the purpose or operating parameters of the pipe system. If you need assistance in choosing the optimum joint system, contact our engineering department or the sales representative for your area.

The installation of joints in rainy weather should be avoided. If unavoidable an enclosure/weather protection must be created to ensure dry conditions for the installation.

If a joint installation fails, the inferior joint must be removed and replaced with a repair joint.

It must be ensured that the pipes and fittings are dry and free from dirt before the joint installation. In addition, at least 20mm is always removed from the foam body at the transitions, in order to remove any moisture that has penetrated and to achieve proper bonding.

Yes, it is possible to shorten a joint. Precise information is provided in the respective installation instructions or from our technical department.

Make sure there is sufficient space to move in the area of bends, expansion pads and joints. More detailed installation can be found in our manual under “Laying guidelines” or ask the site manager responsible for your project.

All connection coupler systems for pre-sinsulated pipe systems are made of extruded high-density polyethylene (PEHD). The crosslinked PEHD and thus the crosslinked isojoint joint systems are produced in a downstream process.

We always recommend installing a leak detection device, as early detection of moisture (defective weld, mechanical damage from the outside, etc.) avoids additional lifecycle costs in the pipe system. Different equipment is used depending on the region.

ISOPLUS offers all kinds of different joint systems for various applications. Double-sealing joints (shrink joint, crosslinked isojoint joints with additional outer shrink collar) and (PE-welded) welding sleeves are recommended in the ground water zone. If you need assistance in choosing the optimum joint system, contact our engineering department or the sales representative for your area.

The time needed depends on the size and ambient factors of the pipe connections. We always make every effort to make sure that we do not cause delays for subsequent trades.

Detailed information on the storage and handling of our joint foam, alongside other information, can be found here.

The foam temperature has been agreed with the foam manufacturer for our products. In addition, application parameters were defined in-house, which must be complied with when foaming. Detailed information can be found here.

Our foam is a rigid polyurethane foam system. It is made up of isocyanate and polyol. The physical propellant from the pentane group is added to the polyol.

Due to the crosslinking process, these joints have improved mechanical properties and a permanently higher shrinking force. The crosslinked connection coupler systems therefore do not require an additional outer sleeve.

We use irradiation crosslinking for isojoint joints. High-energy radiation (electron-ß radiation) splits the carbon-hydrogen bonds causing radical reactive sites (active centres) to be formed in the polymer chain. The electrons are able to split hydrogen atoms out of the polyethylene molecule and therefore create reactive sites on the carbon atoms – so-called radicals. If two reactive sites created in this way are located near to each other, the carbon atoms joint together and form so-called crosslinking bridges. For the crosslinking, the joint body is passed through an electron beam. This creates a uniformly crosslinked joint body, which is now named "PE-Xc". The "X" stands for “crosslinking”, the "c" denotes the physical method.

Delivery of joints without foam components is possible, of course. For individual enquiries, please contact our customer service in your country.

The shrink sleeve is a double-sealing joint system, which is also suitable for use in the ground water zone. Further information on shrink sleeves can be found in our product catalogue, which you can download from the download page.

Topic: Leak detection

It is always possible to use several detection systems in one pipe system. These can consist of two (or more) measuring circuits of one type or a combination of different types.

The two systems most frequently used are the Nordic system (IPS) and the NiCr system of Brandes.

Frequently used systems such as the Nordic system are part of our standard repertoire. For specific information, please contact our customer service in your country.

ISOPLUS solely recommends use of spacers for the installation of detection wires in the joints.

Depending on the detection system monitored lengths up to 5,000m are possible. Please contact the customer service in your country for specific information.

Before the handover, we take a check measurement and create a measurement record, which we issue to the customer.

We always recommend installing a leak detection device, as early detection of moisture (defective weld, mechanical damage from the outside, etc.) avoids additional lifecycle costs in the pipe system. Different equipment is used depending on the region.

Information about our monitoring devices can be found in our product catalogue, which you can download in various languages from our download page.

The fault measurement is used to localised penetrating moisture in the foam system. This can be done using an ISOPLUS measuring device with an accuracy of ±1 metre.

Different types of signal wires exist depending on the leak detection system. They are used to detect and localised penetrating moisture in the insulation. Further information about leak detection can be found in our product catalogue, which you can download in various languages from our download page.

This is possible in principle. For specific information, please contact our customer service in your country. HVO stands for hydrated vegetable oil. Despite its name, HVO can be produced both from vegetable oils and from animal fats. The raw materials are treated with hydrogen gas and catalysts under high pressure and at hight temperatures. Hydrocarbons are produced, which are similar to those in diesel fuel.

HVO is renewable diesel and not biodiesel, for which it is sometimes mistaken. The difference lies in the chemical composition and HVO is very similar to normal diesel so that it can be replaced by normal diesel or blended with it.
