Leak detection

Leak detection

Reliable leak detection technology is indispensable to detect and contain damage early. ISOPLUS offers the suitable solution for every pipeline network. Even a tiny leak or slight structural moisture can cause major damage such as heat losses, corrosion and operational interruptions. ISOPLUS offers leak and damage detection systems, which enable continuous monitoring of the pipelines for penetrating moisture and damage.

Product information

How ISOPLUS leak detection works
With the leak detection, not only the area around the joint, but also every metre of the whole pipeline is inspected. Any penetration of moisture through the PUR foam due to damaged welds or structural damp, even in very moisture-resistant areas, are detected by ISOPLUS leak detection systems just like damage to the PEHD outer casing.
Our leak detection contains two colour-coded wires in foam which, when connected to monitoring devices, detects and localises leaks and damage early. Systems with electronic components can be installed in buildings, pipe runs or be free-standing and offer optimum protection against premature wear.

Digital and analog measurement technology differ in several aspects. Popular digital measurement technology offers many opportunities for improving leak detection networks. One example is ISOPLUS Digital-Cu which, as a reliable leak detection, can detect multiple faults and broken wires or contact with the carrier pipe. The advanced technology of the digital measurement technology enables precise monitoring.

Conventional analog measurement technology is also an effective method for leak detection. This system is independent of other components and displays the measured values directly on the device. This property enables high mobility and independence, which is an advantage for the acceptance of construction sites, pipe sleeves or in environments in which computer systems are not fully functional

Product Specifications

  • The wires are pressed and additionally soldered before foaming.
  • The signal cable of IPS Cu is made from uninsulated copper with 1.5mm² wire diameter.
  • The monitoring cable of IPS Cu is made from tin-coated copper with 1.5mm² wire diameter and is not insulated.

IPS-Cu measurement method
The method uses impulse reflector technology in which electrical pulses are set through the cables. The cables consist of bright copper wires, embedded in foam and surrounded by a carrier pipe. Due to the electrical properties of the PUR rigid foam, the wave resistant remains constant along the whole cable length.

How it works

  • Electrical pulses propagate almost at the speed of light and with minimum energy loss.
  • If moisture enters, the wave resistance changes, which leads to reflection of the pulses.
  • The delay time between the send pulse and the reflection is used to localise the problem.

Signal cables made of copper are the most frequently used systems for leak detection.
