PUR joint foam
Post insulation of outer casing joints is essential to ensure the insulation performance of your pipe systems. ISOPLUS joint foam, also called construction foam, is used here and is available in different forms. On the one hand, cup or machine foam that is placed by hand is used. On the other hand, the fitters in Great Britain and the Nordic countries use special 2-component foam pouches. Both methods ensure reliable post insulation, adapted to regional requirements and circumstances.

Product information
All carrier-outer casing joints must be insulated and sealed with joint casings and PUR joint foam after recording the agreed leak tests.
The foam components for the insulation of joints must be mixed carefully until the mixture has a uniform light-brown colour without dark spots. The mixing process must be carried out quickly, as the foam components react immediately as soon as they come into contact with each other. There process is therefore limited by time. Proper mixing is decisive for the ultimate foam quality. On the construction site, the ISOPLUS fitters in several countries use cup foam placed by hand and in Great Britain and the Nordic countries they use foam enclosed in 2-component pouches.
Key-features
- High-quality polyurethane construction foam (PUR)
- Versatile use for post insulation of pipe joints
- Cup foam precisely placed by hand for flexible construction site use
- Efficient machine foam for larger projects
- Innovative 2-component pouch for simple application in special markets
- Reliable insulation
Post insulation options
Cup foam and machine room
On the construction site, the ISOPLUS fitters in several countries use cup foam placed by hand, which is mixed using turbo stirrers for the supplementary insulation and sealing work. Alternatively, machine foam is used, which is drawn from preheated containers of mobile foaming systems, proportioned as necessary.
Post insulation temperature
Foaming work may not be carried out at temperatures below + 5° C and a relative humidity above 90% or if it is raining. If these requirements cannot be met, additional measurements, e.g. weather protection or pre-heating, must be provided by the customer.
The temperature of the system components, the PEHD outer casing and the carrier pipe must be at least + 15° C, however, it must not exceed + 45° C.
2-Component foam pouch
In Great Britain and the Nordic countries, the foam is used in closed 2-component pouches, which we manufacture in our location in Denmark using a high-tech robot cell. The pouches are divided into two sections by a plastic rail so that polyol is in one section and isocyanate in the other section. This way, the two liquids are kept separate until they are needed to insulate the joints. Before insulating, the plastic rail is removed and the two liquids are shaken together in a closed compartment before the joint is insulated with the ready-mixed PUR foam.
