The Netherlands is working on a sustainable future involving lower CO2 emissions and less natural gas. In this context, ISOPLUS is supplying pipes for the key regional pipeline through the province of South Holland for Gasunie, "WarmtelinQ", Europe's biggest district ehating project in 2022 and beyond. Gasunie made the final decision to build the pipeline segment between Vlaardingen and The Hague in November 2021.
Construction work on the first section between Vlaardingen and The Hague got under way in May 2022. ISOPLUS began supplying the right pipe systems for the project right from the start. Sustainability was a key criterion in selecting the manufacturer. Alongside other requirements, this includes ISOPLUS delivering three-quarters of all the materials to the Netherlands by rail.
Overall, we are producing and supplying a pipe system that will make it possible to use residual heat generated by the Port of Rotterdam to heat some 120.000 households and businesses in South Holland.
A 34-kilometer pipeline will connect the Port of Rotterdam with Vlaardingen and onward to The Hague, passing through the communities of The Hague, Rijswijk, Delft, Midden-Delfland, Schiedam and Vlaardingen. The district heating system mainly consists of one inlet line and one return lin,e along with pump station located in the city of Delft.
Compared to conventional gas-fired central heating boilers, this will reduce CO2 emissions by 60 percent. The pipeline will also create ways to connect new local heating networks in the other municipalities along the route, along with connecting to other local sustainable heat sources.
In the spring of this year, ISOPLUS was awarded the contraqct for second section of the porject, which will run 5.5 km from Vondelingenplaat to Vlaardingen. Construction work is scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2024, with the full network being commissioned by the end of 2025.
